don't let go
Marvel, DC, anime, horses (literal love of my life), books, anything else that happens to catch my fancy I'm a terrible person.

I have a terrible habit of not tagging my shit. You've been warned. It might change someday. Probably not.

“Jason, I need you to stop.”

Jason doesn’t turn around, but he does stop fighting to press his knife to Tim’s throat. Tim’s arms are shaking from trying to keep said knife away from his jugular, but he doesn’t let them fall. He spares a surprisingly irritated look for Dick (as if this whole thing was his fault—okay, maybe it was. He’d been the one to talk Tim into “giving Jason a chance, he’s not so bad once you get to know hm.”) before turning back to Jason with a small, but immensely pissed-off-sounding snarl. “Get him off of me, Nightwing.”

The way Tim says his name—bitterly, almost like it’s a joke—makes something in Dick’s chest pull painfully tight. “Hey, now. There’s no need for that.” He admonishes lightly. “Jason, would you pleaselet Robin up?”

He almost thinks he’s going to have to ask again, with a little more force—which he is not looking forward to doing, considering the fact that Jason could probably give him a run for his money, not to mention the fact that Tim is very much a liability in this situation—when Jason rises fluidly, even going so far as to take Tim’s very much not-offered arm and pulling him to his feet and shoving him unceremoniously into Dick’s arms. Dick hears Tim gasp, but it’s so quiet that Jason either doesn’t hear, or just doesn’t care that he probably broke a couple of the poor kid’s ribs before he actually got down to business.

“Just go, Dick.”

Dick goes, tugging a very agitated Tim along with him.

It’s not until hours later, after Dick’s ensconced a heavily bandaged Tim in Wayne Manor with a watchful Alfred, that he shows up at Jason’s door with a hopeful look on his face.

“You’re a loser,” is Jason’s only greeting, but he doesn’t shut the door in Dick’s face, so he follows when Jason turns to go back inside.

Jason’s apartment is nothing like Dick’s—for one thing, you can actually walk ten steps without stepping on something that should never be touched, let alone stepped on—but they are similar in their choice of locale; neither of them live in Wayne Manor with Bruce and the others, and while it’s more for job-related reasons in Dick’s case, they do both have valid reasons.

Even if Jason won’t tell Dick what those reasons are.

Dick knows the story. Hell, he was there for half of it. He doesn’t even want to relive it, and is not about to make Jason do it until he’s ready. Ifhe’s ever ready, which could well be never. And Dick’s okay with that. Everyone has their secrets, and if anyone deserves a little privacy in that department, Dick knows it’s Jason. He’s learned to accept that.

Which is why he doesn’t argue when Jason pushes his hands away, or when Jason won’t let Dick hold him after they’ve had sex, or how stuffnever happens at Dick’s place.

It’s okay.
